typical performance question (NC30 Vs SV650)

I would like to know what people think about the performance of an early SV650 Vs a standard NC30.
I would imagine the SV would leap out of corners better on account of its instant torque, but the NC engine has a much higher red line so can hold onto revs better.
Gut feeling tells me that they would probably be about the same top speed.
Has anyone got any first hand experience comparing the two?

I imagine the answers the same as most bigger bikes Vs NC comparisons......SV on the straights, NC spanks it in the corners

I owned both at the same time.
The SV650 suprised me as it's actually quite a revvy little bugger. Although I would guess their bhp is similar, the SV definitely has the edge in terms of torque. Top speed on both is comparable.
Standard suspension on the early SV is utterly dawgshite. TBH in standard trim I had little confidence to go chucking it into a corner like I used to on my NC30.
NC30 for handling - SV650 for torque and comfort - Both are comparable for top speed.
I sold my SV around 2000 miles after buying. I kept my NC30....Say's it all really

my housemate has an early SV, it really leaps out of corners, however, if I really rev my NC it just about has the edge on acceleration

my mate had an SV and we used to go trackdays and play out., His SV wold get the power down but up top the NC would be comparable.
His SV motor died....he bought an NC to replace it...
SV are OK bikes - they are not sports bikes though and so are not a very good comparison. They are cheap and feel cheap.

I dont understand your original question, if you've already done what your asking why are you asking it?
Do you want to know if your bike is slower than it should be or something like that?

I have looked at the facts and figures of the two bikes, ridden the two bikes so therefore had a feel for both mine and my housemates, however, I put the question out there to gauge whether my feel for both bikes was accurate.
I was really asking the question to see if anyone else had come to the same conclusion I had or whether my bike was faster or slower than it should be.
I think I may also put it on my local dyno to check the fueling too.
Thanks for your input
