NC30 Front End conversion

After a recent strip down of the front end of my recently aquired NC30, I have found that damage to the outer leg has also bent the stantion as well.
So I am thinking of a USD conversion to the front end, I am looking at some ZXR400L forks on eBay, but what else will i need for the conversion.
I can see that Rick Oliver does a nice set of Yokes for the conversion, but am I right to assume that I will need the front wheel, mudgyard and brakes from the ZXR400L as well?
Are there certain years I should be looking at? Or is there a better conversion to do out there for the money? CBR6RR?

What's your budget at the end of the day, I have gone the nc35 route and even that will have cost around £500 all in. That's cheap when you compare it to some other routes.

To have it done for a monkey would be nice... I'm open really, if I have to replace the front end it seems silly to stick with the original front end when there are plenty of upgrades avalible, and the bike will be visiting the track m ore often than the road.
I like the idea of the 675 front end, but I would prefere some bolt in mods rather than having to get things machined to fit.

My understanding of this swap was that it uses the same yoke mods as the RVF swap uses, as the rvf and the triumph forks are the same diameter, so all you'd need is the front end from the triumph incl wheels mudguard brakes etc and then a Rick O nc35 yoke conversion kit.

I may have misunderstood tho. James who did the mod races with BEMSEE. I'm 90% sure I'll be doing the donington round at the end of July, He'll be there so I can give him an ask and find out a bit more then for you if you want.

Nothing is going to bolt straight in unless you go for a RVF front end and fitting kit which isnt going to improve performance but it will give you a reduced steering lock, some find it on the road but i didnt and removed them after just 1 ride. The 675 conversion is by far the easiest in terms of machining etc. You can use the NC brake discs too but the pads overhang the disc by roughly 2mm, james is looking into this but the easiest solution would be to machine a small amount from the caliper mounting face.

How's your rear?

If your looking for something to just bolt in why not just get another set of stock forks and have them rebuilt and get Rick O's spring kit to give them some good feel?


It will be the chepeast option and probably the best result for your money and you can use the saved cash for more track-days and tyres.

I have the K model NC30 which came with the older type forks, after fitting a rebuilt set of the later forks into it it became a different bike.

Maybe im just a shit rider but unless your pushing the bike to its extremes all the while like in club racing a rebuilt set of later type forks setup with appropriate springs are definalty worth considering.

Plus you can always flog them on easy enough should you feel the front is letting you down.

Unfortunately the bike hasn't turned a wheel yet, so little time and general life has been getting in the way but i have swapped the 600lbs spring for a 500lbs spring and it feels a lot better.

Out of interest, did you make alterations to the locks tops on the rvf yoke? Rick I has told me I need to do that as the steering lock will be poor if I don't. A lot of people say the lock is bad but did you do that? Just wondering if it makes a massive difference or not?
