Hi, before i break anything I would like a little heads up... from what I understand the rebound adjustment on the standard rear shock is a flat mechanics screw at the bottom of the shock.. I think I found it and sort of tried to turn it the other day and it seems pretty solid and I was nervous I was going to damage the screw if i cranked any harder.

Which way is less reboundi and which way is more (counter clockwise for less?)
What do I do if the screw is frozen (does this happen or is something clearly wrong?)
The guy who owned the bike before me had the springs preloaded on maximum (ie spring fully compressed) and he was not a big guy although he used the bike on the track... does this suggest that something is not happy?

I am guessing it may be a good plan just to remove the shock and have it serviced just in case but I would like to understand what is going on with it before I just give it to a shop to fix... basically any info will help

Are you adjusting it on the left hand side of the shock? The right hand 'screw' doesn't turn.

Lol... hmmm that may be the problem :) Not sure which side I was looking at - will check tonight (I had the spring out so I don't know which way the bottom end was facing)

Ahem... so Cammo this was actually all just an elaborate test to see if you know what youre talking about Okay okay, so I was turning (or trying to turn) the wrong screw.

I did manage to turn the right screw (after a bit of effort) but it was stuck at first (fully turned in / bottomed out). If it was fully turned in (clockwise) does it mean that it was set for maximum or minimum rebound?

Anyway, the shock is out now and its going to get serviced tomorrow for good measure

Easiest to just set it in the middle for now. When it's back in the bike adjust it to each extreme and push the rear end of the bike down to see which slows and which quickens rebound, it's quite obvious. Might be a good time to give it a bit of lubricating spray to free up the adjustor also.
