Hi all just a quick introduction, passed my test on Thursday and i happily own a Yamaha FZR400 1WG 3EN2 (whick took me a while to find out what bloody model it was lol) the bike is currently undergoing some much needed tlc

as it had never been cleaned before in its life by the looks of things. so im nearly done now after 3 solid days from 9-9 of working on her. she's looking like she should now just waiting on some parts to arrive and then i will finally ride her for the first time :D the previous owner has put a 3tj stainless manifold and butchered the link pipe as it wouldnt fit its been cut and moved being held on by a clamp the bottom fairing wont fit togeather as the downpipes go into flat 4 at the bottom. does anyone know where i can get an exhaust manifold (aftermarket stainless preferable :D) and where is the nearest meet to me i live 3 miles from bassets pole (birmingham) so i know of this one but wondered if there were any 400 meets anywhere Many thanks to having a read of my random introduction look forward to hopefully meeting you at some point.

Hey Alex
Welcome to the forum
The FZR manifolds have an exup valve and no aftermarket companies do them because of that. You can find a stainless one, probably from the same company that made your 3TJ one - they're on e-bay. Standard exup headers are getting harder to find but keep your eyes open and they do turn up. Is your bike a red white blue or the Black one ???

Hi cheers for the reply, I no longer have the exup valve which to be fair I don't want to keep the exup valve ( I know this sounds like a typical hooligan) as they just seem to be more trouble than they're worth. I just want to get rid of the 3tj pipes now lol. I'm going to have a little venture up to bassets pole tonight as the weather seems good to see if there are any other people on 400s.

It's not a hooligan thing. The exup helps a road bike by changing the size of the exhaust so you get some more torque low down. They don't give as much trouble as you'd think and you'd miss it (if you'd ridden a bike with one)
The blue / black colour is actually called "Midnight" Yamaha used it a lot.

^^^^ what boris said
have you still got the exup servo, if not their pretty cheep and theres plenty of em, so if you can posably find the correct downpipe with the exup fitted, that's probably your best bet.
without the exup the bike will be pretty gutless till about 7/8K rpm when the valve is fully open anyway, the upshot is you'll need to give it the beans around town to make it go,
also if you have an aftermarket can fitted it will be load as fook as the exup acts like a baffel untill it's open,
exup = more low down power and less noise at low revs ie round town and in traffic which is when you least need to draw attention to yourself
