May be a stupid question, so sorry if it has been asked before but couldnt find where, is there such a thing as a carb rebuild kit with jets/needles etc already to go? Or am I resigned to having to order each part individually?

Not a stupid question, but unless you need all the spares then why order them all?

Have you checked the current bits you have?

If you wanted to get a bulk order in then I'd get hold of Rick Oliver (one of our members - top chap) and he'll be able to supply you the bits for sure.

Thanks for the heads up. Emailed Rick, awaiting a reply and am in the process of pulling them apart, and figured if it came as a kit, easier to order the lot?

But after posting, read the carb guide in the document library, so that is very helpful. I will chase the parts I need instead I reckon and hopefully the parts are still Honda parts used in other bikes so readily available...

Seeing as I am cleaning the bike up as I go, I thought I would replace the needles, jets, seals, boots and anything else I havent mentioned that are "consumable" parts, so I dont have any issues in the future. I am starting to think this might be an overkill but did it with my CBR and bikes prior to that and now my NC30.
Got a line locally on these bits or do you order from the UK etc too?

It's easiest to get all other parts from overseas. I have plenty of used carb parts if they're ever needed (no needles though).

I have also in the past day or so, happened onto a crowd that are an offshoot of Honda parts in Japan. Essentially, I send them a spreadsheet of parts, they send me back pricing, I order what I want in Aussie dollars via PayPal. I just bought some things like rear master cylinder rebuild and few other small bits and pieces that via someone like cmsnl was over 100 pounds, cost me $80 aus delivered... and genuine Honda too!
The needles, although I am probably spending money for the sake of it, are the hardest to find. Rick has them and hoping this crowd do too, as with the jets etc. Until I get into pulling them apart I wont know exactly what is required.

Anyone else swap everything out on a rebuild, or is it just a change it if they look worn scenario?

I just went through the carbs on my wife's nc35 because of poor idling issues... Here's what I did:

I ultrasonically cleaned the carb bodies and parts (you'd be amazed at what comes out of where using just "buzzing" hot water and dish soap) inspected everything (for wear and damage) and replaced a couple of slides that had bad diaphragms. (Thanks Cammo!) The idle screw and float bowl o-rings were pretty mashed so I installed one of Blair's o-ring kits (which I highly recommend) and replaced the intake rubbers and clamps (aftermarket clamps were used from a racing shop)

I personally don't see the need to replace parts if they're not worn or broken especially with the current prices and availability...But I do understand if you are wanting to do it for peace of mind!

Yes, unless its broken I wouldnt change it.

The parts on these carbs wear very slowly unless you had a major disastor, most of these bikes are still running over 100,000km without worn carb parts.

Best thing is to clean carbs properly if negelcted, balance them up and change the rubber bits with the lite-tek blair o ring kit.

rubber wears out a lot faster than the needles etc.

Thanks everyone, I will do just that. Check every bit to make sure they are all good (after a clean up of course) and then only replace the bits I need to. I have already invested in one of Blairs kits, which arrived last week, so as soon as I finish the "Honey do this, honey do that list" I will hide in the garage..
