Anyone got any experience from buying from the japan auctions on yahoo. Theres alot of choice when it comes to nc30 parts and they seem to work out cheaper to (obviously before deivery). thanks

Yeah - I have a bought a couple of items. You need to use a service like

www.shoppingmalljapan.com

You pay them a deposit and that will be your bidding limit. They will bid on your behalf. You pay for goods and shipping on top if you win the auction, but they will store stuff if you are bidding on a number of items and then forward them on to you as a single shipment to save on postage. Whenever you are done with the service, they will return your deposit.

I had no hassles with the service and didn't find their additional fees too bad at all. I did just use it for stuff that I couldn't source elsewhere though.

I presume they can only tell you postage after they get the item? It seems like a very good idea, however I'd be slightly worried about buying something and then being fleeced for a zillion quid postage, especially when the wonderful tax man in the UK will add 3.7% to the value of the goods, then take that figure, add the postage and insurance, and then add VAT to the whole flipping lot!

The relatively high cost is why I only buy rare parts from yahoo Japan, the cost adds up when each party takes their share.

Still, always nice to receive moto parts packages from Japan!

Well, I tried another service which is buyee, the domestic package arrived at their site in japan for storage, but now I received a message from them that they cannot ship it to me because it's prohibited item (rvf carbs and airbox). Strange, as I could login and bid on this item no problem at all until now Need to get someone in Japan to receive it via domestic post for me and then forward international ship to me. Any contact suggestions for me? Mailed moriwaki man but no reply yet..

This is the problem with a lot of automated deputy services, for example you can ship wheels but without tyres, many deputee people will not do this so your stuck with something you can't get. There service is automated and they don't deal with bikes spcifcially...

Drew / Mori deal with only bikes and bike parts.

Maybe you will get a reply, but maybe not, as it's like buying a TV from one shop then asking a rival to set it up...
