so this was my post from a long time ago - 5 years :-O

you'll be sorely disappointed to know that i just lived with it, and it got worse and worse (and i just revved it harder), so it got too much and i tore it down.

i am in the middle of cleaning the carbs, jets etc. etc., the tubes connecting the pairs of carbs (part 4 in the diag below) and loose and can flex (almost rotate) up and down, this is because the collars (parts 29) appear to be split.

is this normal, will it affect my running, where would i be purchasing those collars, and how would i be fitting them?

you'll be pleased to hear that during it's winter off, it's been having new pads all round, new caliper seals, forks serviced, new rads, coolant flush, air/oil filters, extensive plastic welding on the fairings and i'm still looking for a new shock and ride height riser (shorter dogbones).

Is the split at about 45 degrees? I seem to recall seeing these things and them actually being like that by design. Could you post a pic of them? As you're in the UK, the normals source would be David Silver Spares, Lings Honda or Rick Oliver.

If you've cleaned the carbs and got everything set up right, it should make a heck of a difference.

The parts you mention are not massively important at all.

To be honest, based on your original thread it does just sound like your carbs need a good clean. I would imagine the idle passages or pilot jets are blocked. Best way to clean the carbs thoroughly is with an ultrasonic bath, you can get them cheap these days.

It's not a big job to fill and redrill the lower link holes to raise the rear ride height, I got a welder mate to do mine. Just drill new hole 8mm further away from the standard hole (centre-to-centre measurement). More info here: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=16534
