Clutch issues

Hey again, more issues.

I've recently done an oil/filter change with Silkolene Super 4 Semi Synthetic 4 Stroke 10W 40 & OE Honda filter whilst I also fixed my prior reg/rec electrical problem, bike was sat for about 2 weeks so last weekend I went for a nice long blast where all seemed fine, however since then (this week while commuting):

When the bike is cold (mornings/after work), the clutch doesn't seem to engage fully from neutral to 1st or something along those lines...
After the usual procedure of choke then idle while I get my gear on, kick it out of neutral into first and it lurches forward/stalls where previously it was fine minus a very small amount of clutch drag, though I read is normal for these bikes. Then I start it in 1st with clutch in and it seems ok (a bit of clutch drag still) & once I''ve set off down the road it seems fine after a short while with no more clutch drag/stalling even from neutral into first (I'm guessing because it's warmed up? When I went out at the weekend I may have left it idling a while longer than usual before I rode it, thus giving it warm up time).

Since discovering the problem I lubed/adjusted my clutch cable and all seems fine there, about 10mm-20mm play in clutch lever as per haynes, however this did not solve my problem.

Any suggestions?

Cheers!

What if you go from neutral to second? To be honest, it just sounds like you need to keep adjusting the cable, perhaps you have too much play? Don't forget you can adjust at both ends if necessary. Try reducing the freeplay and see what happens.

I'll try more messing around, last night I adjusted it at the alternator with the screw at the lever reset (fully in) & I set the freeplay to what the Haynes said, 10-20mm. I have less freeplay now than when I didn't have this issue, would something like this arise from having too little freeplay?

Something at the back of my mind says theres might be a reason why Super 4 might not be suitable for a high revving engine like the NC30's, possibly something to do with all the additives and it being a suitable replacement for mineral oils? Not sure.

Personally i've always used Comp 4 as a minimum, Pro 4 if i'm spending lots of time on track.
