Underrated bikes these, with their good handling... but it's not a V4 though! ;)

Good all round bike with a bullet proof engine
I've got one and its ace never let me down . I use it daily to get me to work when there's no snow

851's in a bit of a state, it's been down the road and flipped. Forks are straight but the plastics are mashed beyond recognition. It'll need a new gearbox casing, new pegs/levers. Rear plastics are remarkably untouched though :o

Best part is it's YELLOW

is it USD front or the M1R forks? ally tank or steel one?
Gearbox casing? is that not a whole crankcase then?
Yellow's good. I'm not sure they ever came in yellow from the factory, tho I do like yellow. My SL is yellow and I think they look better than the red ones.
get some pics up!
what are the plans for it?

Haven't got a clue about most of those questions, not Duc'd up. Plan is to see what plastics will cost, if too expensive then it'll be monster'd

No idea on the cost of plastics but an SS fairing maybe fit. You need to get yourself on the 851/888 Forum. Tho you may upset a few purists if you monstered it it's better than seeing it broken for bits I reckon.
the crankcase is the weak bit on these motors, as the swingarm bolts to the back of the CC. Probably the reason why my M1R bike has an SP4 motor in it. goosed crankcase and you'll need a whole new one pretty much. They do just crack too!

Ouch! Glad it's only cost me £450 then. Shouldn't be too bitter a pill to swallow if that does happen.

I'm actually buying it from an insurance company, it's a cat C. Brother in law put me on to it. He's checked it over for me (he's a qualified Ducati and Honda Technician). I've only seen it in pictures so far but for the money it had to be worth a punt. Just got to arrange to pick it up from Stepney at some point.

will break for well over that even if it is goosed motor.
What year is it? any idea if it's USD front?
