Long story short.

One of the fork seals on my FZR250RR has blown. I think this was after hitting a large pothole I will order the seals tomorrow.

I have in my shed a set of 38mm forks which I am sure are 1WG FZR400. The forks on the FZR250 are also 38mm. New they are supposed to be 560mm long and 0.8~1.4Kgf/mm but at 23years old?????

Does anyone know what the strength/length of the 1WG fork springs are??? If I knew for sure they were harder I think I would rather refit them into the 250 forks when I do the seals as a zero cost 'upgrade'.

The rear end of the 250 already has a Hagon shock with a spring for a 'European' rider, tho maybe still soft for me

Yes the springs I have seem to match those dimensions. 410mm long with 160mm spacer tubes. I honestly didn't think the FZR400 ones would be softer though! and by quite a margin! 0.5 vs 0.8 in the softer area and 0.7 vs 1.4 in the K2 area.

The FZR600 Genesis also had 38mm forks if I am right??? I will look for those specs. Seeing as this bikes a keeper I'd like to make the effort to stick something in there worthwhile.

3HE 600=38mm dia
spring free length=415mm
wear limit 410 mm.

taken from Clymer,I dont have a factory manual but the springs are substantially heavier than 400 items.

From this I deduce my 600 has alternative springs,they were much heavier than the above.
