H, wondered if anyone knows whether the lower cartridge bolt(bolts it to the fork foot, vertically), needs to be steell or could it be titanium or alloy ?, having spent a twenty and got a spare fork out of it, cos i lost the bolt on the gravel drive!,
......although this bolt seems large,,, it is deceptive !! ,, or is it ??

I wouldn't risk an alloy bolt to hold a fork together, titanium would do it but would be expensive so I'd stick to a steel bolt.

i do worry when i see threads like this. Titanium is not as strong as a steel bolt especially when in the fork it could come under extreme shock loading for example in a wheelie.

yeah, i just dont see where the need for anyother than alloy, but a risk is a risk, a large bolt it is tho. not that you can buy one of that sort anywhere.
