NC35 throttle issue...

Hi, I picked my bike up today and it seems to have an issue. Basically it seems to accelerate ok up to 4k but between 4k and 8k it's seems a bit spluttery and then pulls again when it hits 8k. Also it only seems to get to 90mph and doesn't want to go anymore. I have tried searching but couldn't really find an answer, can anyone help?

With bike in neutral will the engine rev cleanly and quickly past 5000 rpm. If not then maybe the OEM speed limiter circuit is not being detected by the ignition control unit at start up, with the result that the engine speed is limited to 5000 rpm.

Are OEM instruments fitted to the bike? Is the 3 pin plug coming out of the speedo connected?

Has someone fitted an aftermarket exhaust to the bike by chance ?

I vote lean A/F mixture in the mid range.

I have had a look at the exhaust and it is badged up as a micron but it looks like it has a honda stamp on it. Can anyone help me with the standard end can part number? It has just had a full service and new clocks so it could be to do with the clocks. I will look into that tonight to see if the plug is on the back

As far as i'm aware the bike isn't 33 bhp restricted, but again I will have to have a look in the carbs. Its really bugging me considering I have only owned it a day and having problems with it!

Thanks,

Luke

where did you buy it from ? dealer or private ? if dealer take it back
if private then if they bolted a can on i suspect very much its not been jetted to suit and is lean.
put a picture up of the bike / exhaust (and before you say i dont know how to, read the FAQ)

As for the clock limiter, without that connected it revs out in first and second clean then will not go over 6k in any gear after, if revving out but with a flat spot i suspect its fueling.

knackered plugs also give similar, fine when cold and as it warms up start to break down with hickups and misfires.

Mine's got an end can on it, and I'm pretty sure no jetting change has been made. It has a slight cough at the usual flat spot area you expect on one, but it doesn't stumble, and on one or two occasions the needle has been seen the far side of the last mark... ;-)

I have contacted the dealer and they are ok to take it back and sort it out. It still hits the 12k mark but it seems a bit spluttery between 4k and 8k then it pulls but just wont go past 80-90. Not that I go everywhere that speed, but when you go to over take and it wont go anymore its annoying ha!

The dealer said the plugs have been replaced with the service but I will still check them aswell. It can surely only be fuel or electrical but its just knowing what it is.

I will get a picture of the can and the stamp when im home later. Will be nice to get it sorted!
