my nc30 starter has jammed. it was fine yesterday but today it just clicks. i can hear the solenoid work and i can hear a click in the starter but it doesnt turn over. the battery is good. is the starter gone? or any chance its frozen up?

Not likely frozen, but battery, how have you checked it, have you charged it or tried jump leads?
To check if it is jammed [unlikely] engage top gear and pull back or put on rear paddock stand and turn back wheel.

thanks arsey, just so happens i charged the battery last night and the lights are bright when i checked. i put it in gear and rocked it but it made no difference...

Try another battery or jump leads first.
Could be a poor connection on the battery/starter/earth leads.

yeah im gonna clean all the connections tomoro it could be corrosion.

i had this problem with my ktm exc once! it could well be the solenoid even though it is clicking it may be closing too early and not sending enough power to the starter motor! that was the problem with my ktm and it sounds almost identical... the starter would spin easy out of the engine connected straight to a battery and there was power from the switch to the solenoid but once all back together nothing... just my opinion just incase save taking it to a garage?

Tap the solenoid sharply but not like your trying to kill it with the handle of a screwdriver.

I had one stick before (on a Kawaski mind you) but all that did was click

Check to see if 12 volt dc is reaching the starter motor. Set multimeter to >15 volts dc range. Put one multimeter probe on the starter solenoid terminal that has the cable going to the starter motor and the other multimeter lead on an earth point on the chassis . When starter button pressed you should read 12 volts dc. Note the reading and report back. No 12 volts then possibly starter solenoid or wiring from battery or battery stuffed. If 12 volts was measured then measure voltage between the the terminal on the starter motor and an earth point on the chassis when you press starter button, should read 12 volts. Note reading and report back. No 12 volts at this point then wiring between starter solenoid and starter motor stuffed. If you have 12 volts at starter motor and no rotation then starter motor stuffed.
