looking for a heads up guys wheres best place to get new cable without spending the earth? I need throttle pull/push and clutch cable. any suggestions?

You could try the Venhill universal kit

If you're looking to save some money then don't bother fitting a throttle push cable, I haven't run one in any of my nc30's. It's not needed.

Not sure I like the idea of no shut cable? Had a incident on my old gilera runner 180 when throttle stuck open.

I'm not running a push cable, bloody thing stopped my throttle from springing back, even though it was brand new!

+1 my push cable kept jamming dispite being routed correctly,

the carb springs are sufficient to close it, i run a quick action throttle and if it stuck with or without the cable my thumb would be heading for the kill switch.

As the others say, if the pull cable broke, you would also need all of the carb return springs to fail (VERY unlikely!) before a push cable was necessary. I suspect if the throttle jammed open you wouldn't be able to close it via the push cable.

It's manufacturer overkill, maybe even regulation in Japan to fit one?

I take it off because it makes refitting the carbs a lot easier.

Me too - not ran a pair if cables for some time.

I always use to run just 1 cable until I had the throttle stick full on twice in 1 session, the 2nd could have been nasty and has put me off using a single cable for life. All that said though the single cable setup worked fine for years but IMO having 2 is one less thing to worry about

When I picked up my 35, the throttle wouldn't shut by itself which made the ride home a little interesting to say the least. I found that the return cable had snapped, and there was so much crap in the sheathing where the cable had corroded that it was making the throttle heavier to open and impossible for the spring to return it unaided. The difference it made when the broken one was replaced was ridiculous!
