Hi All,
I am starting work on Viton carb kits for the CBR400. I have the V4 models covered and a host of others in the pipeline. You can see the VFR400 kits at
http://litetek.co/Carb_Kit_Honda_NC30.html. Anyway I have two honda part numbers to work with
16010-MN4-305
16040-MM5-601
These seem to match for the NC29.
Can anyone tell me if these two kits fit all of the CBR400 models or are differences between models.
Thanks
Blair
EDIT 4th June 2013:
NC23 kits are finished and available at
http://litetek.co/Carb_Kit_Honda_CBR400RR_NC23.html
Still need help from a member with a spare float bowl so that the NC29 kits can be finished.
EDIT 28th June 2013:
A nice Canadian person lent me a float bowl. Expected availability for NC29 & SuperFour is 4 weeks.

This site will give you the different CBR400 models and part numbers. Will you be producing these for the NC23 aswell?

Thanks Yakama!
Ok, I think I will be doing for these models;
CBR400RR – NC23 RRJ, RRK
CBR400RR – NC29 RRL, RRN, RRR, RRR-ii
since they appear to overlap with CBR600, CBR900 and CBR1000.
The NC23 (RRJ and RRK) gasket set contains an odd size aluminium washer that is proving a little difficult to have made in small quantities (small means less than 100000). Always the way. I guess I could make them without the washer and just add it in later if I get lucky.

I completed the part number list and it looks like this.
Original No. Superseded by Description Model
16010-KT7-003 16010-MN4-305 Gasket Set CBR400R – NC23 G, H
16040-KT7-003 Fuel Set B CBR400R – NC23 G, H
16040-MN4-003 16040-MM5-601 Fuel Set CBR400RR – NC23 J, K
16010-MN4-003 16010-MN4-305 Gasket Set CBR400RR – NC23 J, K
16010-MV4-000 16010-MV4-780 Gasket Set CBR400RR – NC29 L, N, R, R-ii
16039-MV4-000 Gasket Set C CBR400RR – NC29 L, N, R, R-ii
16040-MV4-000 16040-MZ1-790 Gasket Set B CBR400RR – NC29 L, N, R, R-ii
If I have made any mistakes then please let me know. It takes anything up to four months to get production started. Sometimes the samples are not up to scratch so retooling etc. Of course if everything goes well it can be a lot sooner, but I err on the side of Murphy. If you want to learn a bit about Viton (FKM) and why you should not use anything else then please read the documents that are linked to on the faq.

In the process of going through the parts books I learn that these little gems have gear driven cams. Unreal! I want one now.

Yes those whistling geared cams make the cbrs have a very distinctive sound, lots of pedestrian head turning when you glide down the road. I can hear a 29 yards away over the mass of noisy bikes at my local bike meet.
When im off work i'll look up the the parts book and see if i can spot any difference in what you have wrote. The only thing i could see in your above reply is in the part numbers. From my experience any part number that ends in mv4-780 is usually an R/Rll specific number. That not too say ot wont fit the earlier 29 but worth rechecking as the carbs id number did change with that model. Reasons unknown to me.

I have all the genuine parts for the NC23 J & K.
So now I am doing my homework. Anyone know what the oval shaped ring is in this pic?

Okay I found it. It is for the thing that looks like an accelerator pump diaphragm to me, but that is probably the old ducati history seeping in to my brain, labeled as "VALVE SET, AIR CUT" in the parts book on the CBR600 which share the same kit as the 400. That solved I will start the production of the the kits for the NC23 J & K. Kawasaki 400 and 1WG Yamaha at the same time.

Hi all,
Need a little help here. I am somewhat confused by the fuel Tee and breather o-rings shown in the parts book. The diagram shows 16 of these parts as diagram item number #4. However the qty column shows only 4 assemblies (16040-MN4-003) for the J & K model. This assembly contains 2 large and 2 smaller o-rings for a total of 8??? Can somebody set me straight here please. I am assuming that the smaller o-rings are for the Fuel Tee and the larger ones appear to be for the vacuum breather. My other assumption is that there should be 6 fuel tee o-rings and 6 breather o-rings, and that the K model uses the shorter breather pipe (#32) and that the parts book shows the extra breather pipe and o-rings to cover that model.
cheers
Blair
ps I have the o-rings in stock and I will be having the float bowl o-rings made shortly.
