How do I know if the fuel tap is turned off on my new to me nc30?

There are three positions go for the middle, one way for on the other for reserve.
Of course it embossed on the tap (or should be)

Is it stock tap? All stock taps have it written on them, might be hard to see as the paint often wears away so its all black but if you look with a torch you shold see writing on the plastic knob.
If not then its been changed for a non stock item.
