Nc30 neutral light not working

Im going to shove this bike where the sun doesnt shine soon, in the shed that doesnt get opened!!!
Neutral light is very temperamental. Sometimes it works, mostly it doesnt work. The engine wont turn over without a neutral light, so you can guess how annoying it is going out to the bike in the early hours ready to ride to work and then nothing. Cant bump it as my house is surrounded by grass and uphill paths.
Is it going to be a wiring issue? I know its not a problem with the barrel as the oil light comes on, just not the neutral light.
Help please!

Should turn over with the stand up and the clutch in, though? I'd check the operation of the neutral switch.

To add to that, if you pull the connector off the switch (it's not a switch as such) & earth it with tge ign on the light should come on, repeat a few times, if the light comes on ok, it's the switch or corrosion at the terminal (most likely...) If it doesn't come on reliably, it's a wiring issue.
I'm not sure where the switch is on these, kinda under the clutch housing I think.

You sure you're getting the bike into neutral properly?
I sometimes find that the bike is in neutral but the light isn't on, just takes a little flick of the lever and the light shines

Neutral switch threads into the engine casing, underneath the clutch housing, infront of the lower engine mount. Pic below is pinched from a thread started by Homer. It's an NC24 engine, but as far as I know the bottom end casings are almost if not the same.

Il reply to your comments individually;
It doesnt matter whether the stand is up or down, there is no sensor for that, and again theres no sensor on the clutch. Its always been difficult to start.
Yeah its definitely in neutral, as i say its always been temperamental, i think once i panicked and it wasnt properly in neutral.
Im guessing its a wiring issue, so will try that
Thanks for that picture, i wouldnt have known where to look. Will update tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks guys!

And when i say difficult to start, i mean just because of the light!

There is a sensor - the bike will start in gear but only if the clutch is in. So sort that one out and you can get it running.
I don't have a working light on mine - the wiring in the housing is loose and I cannot be arsed to fix it..

Haha. Its not just me then!!!!!!!!!!!
But it should start with the clutch in, my light only works when then the engines cold!

This is what I'm talking about. Got home after work last night, went outside to cover it and thought id check if it still wasn't working, and of course, it was working. Started up fine.
So i need to check this neutral switch and its wiring, and also a clutch sensor somewhere?
