Riding part faired Q

I'll have the nc back together soon (it's been too long!).
Now, I have the option of a longish run later in the week.

Is it safe to run without the fairing mids & lowers fitted?

The upper headlight fairing seems fairly secure but I'm not sure if it's secure enough for a 200 mile motorway trip, I don't want to end up with stress cracks or anything!

Options & comments please as I really don't want to fit them to remove them on return!

Cheers all, Pip

Alot of people do track days with no fairings, but your problem could be the nose cone, as your mirrors will be useless without it, the bottom could be vunerable where it attached to the v piece and mids.

Just go with no cone, and screen brace and just make plenty of lifesavers

cheers.
I must admit, I was hoping to keep the nose, mirrors & indicators - the rear indi's would flash too fast without the fronts too.

Anyone had experience good/bad with running just the nose cone.
I wonder if it could be braced easily?

The bottom radiator might be susceptible to road debris uncovered if your prepared to risk it :?

i rode my bike around for nearlly 2 months with just the nose cone on while i was waiting for my new fairings.
Didn't have any problems with it, if nose cone is similar to nc23 there should be 2 mounting points at the back of the nose cone that will keep it stable without side panels.

I usually ride it to the garage for servicing without the lowers and mids and is always ok. Doesn't seem to be much movement in the nosecone, though I wouldn't do it all the time.
It obviously depends if you ride around at stupid speeds! The higher the speed the more the nose cone moves about...

Yes, I've ridden mine without lowers and mid panels, purely to deliver for servicing. The top fairing is in no danger of flying off, after all, there are two hefty mounts on the mirrors, and a nice big fastener between the headlamps. The fairing fillers can be left in situ and help to stabilise the edges. Of course, if you want to ride at 120mph then you may find the situation a little different. And as mentioned, it does leave the bottom rad with a better chance of getting some flying object break it, but I would bet that anything sufficient to puncture the rad would probably do so regardless of the mesh in the fairing anyway. Paradoxically, the one time I've suffered a rad leak was when the guard shifted in the v-piece and rubbed through one of the channels in the centre of the core!

Ok, cheers for the info all. Sounds like it'll be ok then.
Now, just see if I get the bike put back together & a decent day to travel without too much salt!
