After some advice on skimming the heads and getting them gas flowed, really i'd like to know is it going to make much difference.?

The last and only run i've had on the dyno was just shy of 70bhp which i was really happy with.

It's a race bike with quieting gears removed and ramair, ignitech, half system, flywheel removed.

I'm keen just to hear peoples views on what i should or shouldn't do next. I guess full engine rebuild but i'm just going to chance what i have now and worry about it later.

Thanks in advance.

Steve,

Speak to Chris at Dynopro, will be able to give you before and after figure on loads bike and you can decide if is worth it, I would say defo yes, skimming is the big thing on race VFR/RVF.
Dont want you making it too quick now!!

What does skimming the head actually do?

You'll get a slightly higher compression ratio, won't you? So in theory a little more power.

^^ I believe so, and the gas flowing is essentially a re-profile of the inlet and exhaust ports to ensure the most efficient air to fuel ratio. I believe it's measured using some pretty trick 'tools' and then finished by hand?!

I've ridden a track NC30 with skimmed and gas flowed heads and it felt noticeably quicker than any other NC30 I've ridden.

Biggest power increase for cost effecive on an already tuned bike like this would surely be a 440 / big bore style conversion?

I would listen to Al, he knows his stuff about race bikes :)
