Hi.

I'm after a new set of Chain and sprockets for my 3tj7 can anyone tell me the correct gearing and pitch that is standard.

And a a suggested better gearing for normal road riding.

Ta
Kris

128 Link 428 Chain
Have a look in the document section of the forum you'll a document for the 3TJ2 most of what want will be in there ... to get standard though just go to supplier (BandC Express are quite good).

Cheers, didn't know if the sp's ran different.

Might give Kayla a go for a Renthal set.

Don't think so - the 400 run a light chain I guess it's to reduce rolling resistance and weight

Good call - I didn't see stocked them.

Just a little information for those considering new C&S for their 3TJ, it's actually cheaper to convert to 520 than persevere with the standard 428 pitch parts.

You will find by converting to 520 the chain mass is greater than 428.
This is however cancelled out if you use Karla's Renthal kit (extremely competative too, I just got an excellent quote..)because the hard alloy rear sprocket is much less in weight than the 428 steel. The front Renthal is slightly lighter too.
You will almost certainly need to put a extra lockwasher on the INSIDE of the front sprocket to tighten the locknut correctly ( for some reason the front Renthal is 1.5mm thinner than stock.
You will pay more for an X ring chain but the benefits outweighs this.X ring has much less resistance or buy a non O ring cheap chain and sling it each season.

I went 15/47 which is 3.13:1 = +13% acc/-13% top end =105mph
or
16//47 which is 2.94:1 =+/- 7%=112 mph.
Used 106 link chain but dont know if TJ is same length.

stock is 2.89:1 gearing
15/41 or 19/55.
This is 3EN2 but 2.89 :1 will be the same or Boris will correct !
