gsxr 400 o ring question

hi again so story so far managed to change 3 of 4 jet holder o rings (one i bowl i cant get into thanks to previous owner putting rounded off screw back in :x :ban: ) 2 float perch o rings again in one that i opened he'd rounded of the float perch screw and all 4 idle adjust screw o rings (what settings do i need to put the idle adjust screw back to is question 1 i've set them to 1.5 turns back from all the way tight or 540 degrees if thats what 1.5 turns means 360 plus 180) question 2 where is the slide holder so i can replace those o rings i looked at the carbs for hours and couldnt see anything resembling the pic i have for where all o rings go . 3rd question now instead of struggling to tick over its revving high is this because of the forth o ring i havent bveen able to change on the jet holders and the 2 i cant vchange on float perch although the two i already pulled of the other float perches didnt seem too bad of course the jet holder ones were def f****d. thanks for any help in advance just wanna get my baby going lol :grin:

Its racing because you've replaced something wrong - choke staying open, idle screws wrong, could be a number of things.
The slide holder is the white plastic piece that the slide actually slides in.

ok so it not because i havent done one the o-rings on inspection (4th time carbs been off now) i've realized one the idle screws was further out than the others i assume because as im tightening the screws in as the screwdriver touched the edge of the housing it gave the feel of being tight so i have just wound each one back in to full tightness then out by 1.5 turns hopefully this will cure it cuz the bloke who has f***ed the screw has really done a number on it and its well welded in just tried cutting a flat head shape into it with hacksaw but cannot get it to free off so if its not these idle screws then i'm afraid i'm guna be begging on here for someone with a set of gk76a carbs that have all o rings in place thats for sale its guna hurt tho cuz that will mean i am another month without my bike cuz wont be able to insure it once i spend cash on new carbs and then prob longer without bike cuz i wont be able to get to work :down: loving this bike looks beautiful sounds the dogs danglers with original can but OMG what a ball ache just cuz matey boy before (even though he is an AA mechanic) was a complete tard :drool: and put the original yet mashed screws back in what a complete flid obviously never planned to keep the bike for very long when he did the o-rings the first time round

Screw should come out if you take your time, maybe buy a really good fit screwdriver.
76A carbs go for big money.

yeah i guessed they'd be expensive i'm just runnin out ideas for that screw only thing left i can think of is an easy out but im worried cuz the steel of the screw harder than the ally of the carb it will prob end up damaging the carb by moving off at an angle before the screw comes out only other idea i have is maybe get it on a drill press so it cant wiggle and wobble about and clamp the carb in place so that cant move either just means i got to travel with my carb a few miles to get that done and again at more expense to myself

you could always saw a slit in the screw (very carefuly) so you can get it out with a flathead, had to do this on my cbr carbs before weak sauce screws :grin:

Have you tried using an impact driver to remove it? Two of the screws in one of my float bowls were ruined and I used an impact driver to remove one but the other one didn't want to budge so I cut a slot in it with a dremel and unscrewed it with a flathead.

Worked fine and I have since replaced all of the screws.

6 Off my screws were rounded off due to previous owner, All i did was saw a slit (as said above) and a squirt of WD40 every now and again and they came out, I then bought new screws (With Allan Key heads) stainless steel for a few quid.

I also had the same problem as you, when refitting the carbs the engine raced, This was due to the inlet rubbers not been tightened enough and letting air in from the inlet rubbers.

Make sure the carbs are pushed fully into the inlets and use decent clamps

And as Valve states, Carbs are costly, take care when working with them. I was lucky to get a set for free so made 1 good set from the 2
