reserve not working?

At the weekend I took the restrictors out of my carbs, upgraded the main jets to 118/120, raised the needles 0.5mm and drilled the little hole out from 2mm to 2.5mm (I have a beowulf straight through can).
Yesterday the bike was awesome and revved so much more freely !
On my way home last night I went on to reserve about 3 miles from home but everything was fine and then this morning I did about a mile and the bike lost power and struggled to keep running (It felt the same as it does when I need to switch to reserve). I turned around and got half way home and it cut out. I had to push the last 1/2 mile back. (didnt realise how unfit I am!!). Surely I should get more than 4 miles from reserve? The tank looks nearly half full!! I wonder if I've done something wrong with the carbs? I'm going to fill the tank tonight and see if it runs again. does anyone have any ideas?

Should get a hell of a lot more than 4 miles from the reserve.
Did you touch the fuel tap at all when you sorted your carbs?
Did you disturb the vacuum hose maybe?

vacuum not fitted to the right spigot on the tap is my guess.

There is a spigot that runs horizontally next to the fuel pipe spigot and one that is vertical just below it.
I have connected the vacuum hose to the horizontal one because I thought it came off that one. So I guess it should be the other one then? I will try it when I get home tonight. I hope thats all it is!!
Thanks for your help and advice guys!

It is meant to be on the horizontal one spigot.
If it runs OK when the tap is "on" and not on "reserve" then you could have a blocked reserve pipe.

Hmm..
If it was half full could you start it when in ON position? Have you started it since after filling it back up?
If you cant run it at all chances are vaccum hose is loose / wrongly fitted.
If not is the fuel hose ok / not kincked?
My 30 had aftermarket fuel hose from tank to carbs and was slightly too long, it got kincked and knackered up my fuel flow..

Had to leave the bike at home today so can't try anything till I get home.
Thanks for the ideas on what to try. Will update when I have hopefully sorted it.

finally managed to get in the garage!
The vacuum hose looks like it might have been kinked at the carb end but not sure. The bike runs fine again after a bit of twiddling about and then putting back together!!
The main fuel pipe is now starting to split after being on and off a few times and the vacuum hose could do with being a bit longer so it doesn't kink again. I will be replacing both and also need a few of the clips on the various hoses on the fuel line and air hoses on the airbox (some are just cable ties). where is going to be the best place to buy from? I was thinking either contact Rick Oliver, trying the local car spares or last resort flea bay. any suggestions?

If you are feeling rich, you can still get the various butterfly clips from Honda. There are numerous different sizes and they range from about 50p to £1.50. I've not had to source any so far, so I don't know how that compares to RO or elsewhere....

I think I'm just going to take the hoses to the local car spares at the weekend and match them up. I'm sure they will sell the clips cheap enough as well. I don't want to buy some and then they not turn up by the weekend!
