Hi all

If you have read my other post it sounds like my CDI/ECU has given up. Is there any other CDI unit from any other bike that will fit as I'm struggling to get one for my bike, unless someone has got I can buy from?

No other available though i believe Dynotec (i think) do an aftermarket one.

Thanks for that. The site I think your on about is dynaonline and they don't have one that fits my bike. Plus the cheapest was about $150 and I don't want to pay that for my 3rd bike. Cheers anyway.

Can anyone with a gk73a cdi be able to help me? I have got my cdi unit and I want to know if you can test yours with a multimeter and tell me which pins are connected in a circuit and which pins have a voltage output. If someone will be so kindly to test there's so I can rule out if I have a cdi problem.

Im unable to help as i only have SP cdi but you need the resistance readings between the pins.
Post up as much as you can and i will compare to the sp and bandit.
You only need about three wires to get the motor running, basically 12v at the coil and cdi, pulse trigger from pickup to cdi and then trigger from cdi to coil and up to rev counter.

How do you check the resistance between the pins? I've checked the connectivity between the pins if that helps. I'll post a picture with the pins labelled and show which pins are connected to which. I know there's is on pin on the small connector that doesn't have any connectivity to another pin. As I said I will post a picture up tonight when I finish work to describe it more.

When I say connectivity I mean a circuit between each pin.

You want to set the meter to ohms and take any readings when connecting terminals.
The workshop manual gives correct readings for comparison.

Quick update after spending another half a day on the bike. I've done the check on the cdi and I'm sure it's NOT the cdi now. I double checked the spark and I have no spark at all. I have checked the wires that are connected to the coil packs and I'm getting voltage reading at one terminal and not the other. I have been told that there is 2 tests to check the coil packs. First is to check the ohms across the two terminals across each coil pack, both ok at 4ohms. The second test was to measure the ohms from the terminals to the end of the ht lead that connects to the spark plug, I had no readings for this on either coil pack for either terminal.

Any suggestions? Could it still be the cdi or the coil packs?
