Found my plug wires have been modded by the P.O., any concerns with running wires with NGK caps fitted other than sealing the plug cavity? I guess riding in the rain might let water in the area around the plugs? Are there any aftermarket wires available, or do you have to get the spendy ones from Honda?

cheaper just to buy another coil c/w leads, can pick them up easily and cheaply.

What source and pricing are you seeing on the coils/wires? I'm in the states so that usually adds quite a bit for shipping. I'm guessing the P.O. just threw these on here to get by, I just don't want to have problems due to dodgy wires later on.

Here in the UK parts are cheap and readily available as you have guessed.

It's worth finding a genuine part to replace it, water and spark plug wells don't mix. It's probably not a case of if, but when it will fill up if you ride in the rain (or wash it).

I'd not completely agree that parts are cheap in the UK, but DSS can get them, albeit the lead time us up to three weeks. A new set would be about £140 from them, a bit cheaper with CMS at £115.

As someone outside the EU, you'd not pay EU taxes on them, but presumably get hit for whatever import duty the US imposes on such things. I've checked on CMS, and shipped, a set of all four would be 154 Euros, which is about $194. Ouch!

I guess they either work or they don't, although it's not really something I'd like to buy from eBay....

The issue is telling if the part is good or not You can get coils from a tenner on eBay, or £15-20 with leads, but how do you know if they're knackered just by looking at them? Also, don't they deteriorate gradually with use? Yes, £30-40 is a lot less than £100+, and I'd probably take a gamble at that price, but if you get stitched up you might end up wishing you'd bought a new one. Having said that, I'm pretty sure I've seen people take the caps off and replace the cable itself with new material. Possibly more effort than it is worth.....

Sorry to drag this up, but I've just spotted that Rick O does a set of HT leads with NGK caps for £36, check the document library. :-)
