If you've filled the overflow, you need to take the filler cap off the top radiator for the fluid to drain into the radiator itself, this allows air to escape the system. It should drain by itself after a while with the engine off (gravity you know). Once the overflow has drained, run the bike for ten minutes with the rad cap off to get the fluid circulating. Give the hoses a gentle squeeze as well every 30 seconds or so. Let the bike cool back down and check the fluid level. If it's still too low, top up at the rad filler cap and repeat the above.

Thanks, I needed this info for Monday as well as I've just fitted a new radiator.

Cheers

The procedure from the Honda book is to fill the rads up full and fill the reserve tank up to the max line, give the hoses a squeeze while doing it.

Leave the rad cap off and warm the bike up until the thermostat kicks in and the water circulates.

Snap the throttle to bring the revs upto 5000 rpm and let it settle down, do the same thing again two more times then turn the engine off.

Let the bike cool down fully, fill up the rad to max and replace the cap and your done.

If its still leaking after that chances are you have a knackered rad cap
