Has anyone re-fitted the exhaust heat shield with rearsets, how have you managed it if so?

Does anyone sell a carbon fibre heat shield that'll fit with rearsets?

If there isn't already a company that makes the carbon heat shield in the UK, then it shouldn't be too hard to find one that will. This piece was relatively easy on my bike as he just layed the carbon fiber over the standard unit to mould it, drilled the holes, and trimmed around the edges. I am sure he could make more but then you have to factor in shipping, etc. and he needs one to use as a mould. He has since shipped all my OEM parts back. Also, keep in mind that I have yet to see how shield this will withstand the heat and if it will last the test of time. If everything turns out well and there is enough interest I would be willing to ship him back my OEM stuff and you can contact him after to have some parts made.

OK, (slap on head!), just read your post over again. Are you saying that the standard heat shield doesn't work at all with any of the aftermarket rearsets? The standard heat shield screws into the back side of the standard rearset, so unless there are threaded holes on the back of the aftermarket stuff, then they might not work. You can still fix the top bolt to the sub-frame, and then maybe locate one other bolt somewhere on the bottom and that might be enough to hold it???

Okay, this might be a stupid question, but what do you want an ugly heat shield for? IMO they don't do anything and block the view to the beautiful V4 pipework.

Because my wife complains that the RHS gets *FAR* warmer than the left?

Can't remember where it bolts to on standard rearsets. I spose you could drill and tap your rearsets to take a bolt or two?

Standard is one bolt to the frame up top then two bolts into the back of the hanger.

I was thinking if all else failed of making a plate to sit inbetween the frame and the rearsets to attach it.

But I'd prefer a CF one.:D

if you really must have one there id get someone to fabricate a bracket somewhere on the original heatshield that bolts to the frame so you then have to mounting points.
Then as rvfhooligan did, get someone to make a carbon mould of the heatshield, a little bit off trimming and job done.
If think id just tell her to stop complianing tho
