Random question lads, but what would the typically temperature of a CB400sf manifold run to?
Only reason i ask is i was thinking of getting the mainfold powdercoated but the fella isnt sure that the powder wil last long against the potential tempertures anything above 210c. I had been painting it myself which turned into a disaster with shite looking brush stuff then sold the wrong friggin aerosol colour i wanted

So its all getting sandblasted back and starting from scratch one way or another

I think powder coating a set of down pipes is a bad idea, once warmed up I think it'll turn to jelly and run off, but I could be wrong.
Very high temperature exhaust paint ?

Taken from another forum..
''I work for a powder coater, the pipes coming out of the engine get way too hot for powder coat. As for the muffler, we have done some for bigger harley bikes dressers, baggers (no guarantee) but it holds up. There are even some high temp powders, but in very basic colors. Ceramic coating is very fragile, if you drop it, it will likely chip.''
So, no.

About the only way to go is stove enamelling if you aren't confident enough to paint them.

Yeah i didnt think the powder coat would be suitable but just wanted to confirm, ah well
Roar-e, im happy enough to paint it myself, thats not a problem at all, i just need to find somewhere that bloody well does satin to shut me up

Gloss and matt i can find no problem, but see trying to get satin, NOOOOOOOOOO
Must look into that enameling thunderace, dunno if there's many do it over here. Is it an expensive job do you know?

Applied first coat of plain black and looks more like grey ffs. 2 tins that was! Maybe cause the manifold was taken back to scratch it is going to take a few more coats?

Will it turn black-er? Didnt realise that if thats the case! Better bloody do lol. I doubt it'll go shiney though?
As for the forks, Chris cleaned up a bit round the seal and doesnt seem to be leaking any further, but still think i'll get the fork oil replaced and change the bushings and seals at the same time. May as well seeing as it'll all be stripped down anyway. Just need some help doing it from someone who knows what they're at lol
Might actually get riding the bloomin thing then, only been out once since that trip to Portrush ffs

All grand yourself?

In had new pipes and muffler made for the XBR500 that I've just sold, and had them coated with a ceramic finish. It comes in either black or silver (about the same colour as unpolished aluminium). The process coats both inside and outside, and a small power increase id claimed. Looks good and easy to keep clean, very durable too.
