I've just bought a set of cbr 600 calipers and the adpter plates from a guy on ebay for my nc30 build. Do i also need the cbr600 discs or can i use the nc30 ones? Oh and do i need new brake lines too? Thanks

Discs will be fine, the lines will need to be changed for longer ones with different angled banjos

master cyclinder too...

Thats a relief i dont have to replace the discs, but i hadnt even thought about the master cylinder . think my master cylinder is due a service anyway so i suppose it will be a worthwhile upgrade. Can the cbr600 discs be used though?

Not as far as I'm aware as the mounting holes aren't the same and the CBR discs are bigger too (I think)

Can i use my nc30 master cylinder with this upgrade? Im having trouble finding a good condition cbr one at the moment?

it will work..but it is not right..

you can use a fireblade, sp1/2 or cb1300 mastercylinder...they all run these calipers

if you find out the piston size its using mate you could pretty much use any that matches. for best results.

Cheers for sharing the knowlege lads, thats gave me loads more options. Think i'll go down to my local breakers and see if theyv got anything. Ive alreday ordered s/s hel brake lines to match my the rear brake line that i already have fitted.

Does the same advice on the master cylinder apply to the NC35? I've just won a pair of RR3/4 calipers, lines and RVF m/c as a set on eBay. From memory, I think the stock pistons on the 35 are slightly larger than the 30, but I can't remember off the top of my head, so I was wondering if there was a difference in the master cylinder as well) I seem to recall reading that the gold 600RR/Blade/SP1/2 calipers had the same leading piston size but the trailing one was 1mm larger which is why they have a little more oomph (not that mine are lacking, but they're looking very tired and they do have quite a bit of wear. And gold ones look funky). Would I lose some performance relative to the stock calipers if I don't change the m/c for the one that would have been fitted to the donor bike?

My basic understanding of hydraulics makes me think that with the NC35 master cylinder, I'd be applying the same force per unit area on the 600RR calipers as the stock ones, but the extra bore diameter of the trailing piston would mean I'd also be displacing more fluid to do so. So, I'd have a little more braking effect, but it would make the brake lever slightly longer. I guess this would result in the spongy feeling mentioned above when you do the same on a 30, especially if the m/c was a tad smaller. Would the stock (for the gold calipers) m/c and reservoir fit on the 35's handlebar? It seems to be one of the combined cylinder/reservoir units, so I'm a little nervous about the potential for it to collide with something under the screen considering how close the stock items are to everything....
