Hi everyone, I had a Viper stubby race can on my NC30 which the bike ran fine with no flat spots, revved freely all the way from the bottom to top of the rev scale. Now i replaced my Viper can last night with a Tyga Maggot Can. After letting the bike warm up i took it for a good run to see if she ran correctly. What i experienced was when i was in the illegal end of my speedo : D in 6th gear was the bike seemed to go a bit flat, almost like it had no more give, but with the viper can it would still rev strong and still pull well if you know what i mean. I dont seem to experience any other flat spots through the rev scale just around the top end.

A few weeks back i invested in some carb parts to fit this winter when i clean everything out, i intended to fit 118 jets in the front carbs and 120's in the rear as thats what people recommend with and endcan. Im also planning putting 1.0mm needle washers in too. The bike is completely standard apart from this tyga can, could i have everyones opinions please as to whether or not using these sizes in jets would be correct to use with the TYGA maggot can? Please advise thankyou

Well...a standard setup wuld normally be fine..but you don't know what yours is? So you might yet have to put it back to standard

Ah right i see mate, its almost like its leaning out top end. I havent had chance to whip a sparkplug out yet to check, and ill have to make some time to strip the carbs down. What about the A/F screws. Ive never checked the settings on these, what should they all be set at with an aftermarket endcan? 2 full turns out, or maybe even 2.25 turns out?

How sure are you that it is not in your head? Whack the other can on and back to back it..

Has anything else changed at all on the bike?

Nothing else has been changed mate, i put the stubby viper race can on and all was brilliant, on putting the Tyga can on im experiencing some sort of flatspot at the top end of the rev scale, i know the tyga can is alot more free flowing than the race can I had on lol.

Its lumpy on idle which id expect normal just like it was with viper can fitted, its revs fine from idle onwards but goes slightly flat at top end of scale with tyga maggot, it never did this with viper. Is there anything i could tweek to sort this mate?

Sounds like it's running lean up top. Check what size main jets are in the carbs and try 2 sizes bigger. This will most likely fix the issue.

You could also try a pilot screw setting of 2 turns out, but those maggots are so crazy flowing this setting is just a guess.

Yeh ive still to strip the carbs down lol, do you think its worth taking two rear plugs out after a run to see if its lean? And do you think adjusting the a/f screws will do anything substancial

If you have standard sized main jets then it can certainly run lean with a maggot fitted which barely muffles the exhaust.

Doing a plug chop is a waste of time. Find out what sized jets are in your carbs and go from there.

The pilot screws only affect fuel mixture just off idle, nowhere else in the rev range. If you don't have any issues there then no need to change them.
