Hello I'm looking to put a Marchesini rear wheel on my NC30 for some better tire choices.

Forgive me if this has been covered but a search didn't turn up anything.

Is this possible to do without having to hire a machinist make special parts?

i think they're a 5.5" rim so you will need a chain spacer kit (see rick oliver) and a conical wheel nut spacer from the likes of ebay
(alternitivly a ducati or rc30 wheel nut wich are conical, also found on ebay)

oh yeah, as they're 17" you will need to alter the swingarm linkage to suit.
most just swap them out for an nc35 set-up wich is a direct replacement

I'll get the kit from Rick and my back is already lifted.

So other than that I just need a conical wheel nut spacer or a nut from a Duc. Ok easy enough.

I guess there's no 5in Marchesini out there. A 5.5 rim seems too wide for this bike and I'd like to run a 160.

A 160/70 should go on a 5.5 at a push (depending on brand)

Bit tall though.

160/60 goes on a 5.5 no problem

Interesting! How flat is it? I thought it'd be pretty stretched out by then! The tyre chart says 5" is the biggest acceptable stretch for a 160/60.. and not all mfg's support that!

Guess it depends on tyre though! :)

I never noticed any problems with it, alex witham now has the wheels on his NC.

Bridgestone are particularly free with this sort of information and this says 180 on a 5.5" rim, maybe 170 or 190.

Does it need to be a marchesini? You can get those replica nc35 wheels on eBay that'd do it for you, if they're still going? Or a used OE '35 wheel? Both will be cheaper too.

You'd probably still be better off doing a VFR750 hub/wheel conversion.

Just tossing ideas up.
