Hi all, putting the stock can back on my recently bought (and restored) NC23. It had a slip on race can on but only attached via duct tape!! So to get it through the MOT i'm putting the stock can back on.
All was going well until i found the threads are stripped in it!
Was wondering which route is best to go down -
Tap the threads and drill the exhuast holes a big bigger
Use a Heli-Coil (i have no experience with these)
Or try get the slip on fitted properly (actually slipped on lol!) but im pretty sure this will be way too loud for MOT.
Thanks for any advice

i would just fit the slip on properly.
I have a mtc can on mine which i cut down to 8 and half inch and is very very loud but still passes the mot.

ok that sounds like a good idea. im guessing to get the slip on fitted i will need one of those 3 bolt adapters. Very pricey for me! Or will cutting the flange off and slipping it on securely work ok?

i thought the way you said it the guy had already cut off the flange with 3 bolts lol.
Dont think i would like to risk cutting it to be honest, maybe get a tap and dye kit and make new threads in the original exhaust?

lol yeh theyre still there! Im seriously tempted to put the slip-on on the bike as one of the bolt holes on the can have already been tapped already it seems! Its definetly larger than the other ones. Do you or anyone know the best prices for one of those adapters?
Thanks for the advice
