hi guys,
im in the process or fully restoring my '92 nc30, i have followed cammos guide to carb rejetting / cleaning and done all suggested. ive cleaned all the emulsion tubes, jets, float bowl's etc, just wondered if there is anything else i should be cleaning out as my bike has stood for a number of years.. ive polished the outside of the carbs also and am almost ready to refit, just wanted to know if there is anything else i should be looking for before i pop them back on..

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A good service mate plugs oil air filter and perhaps leads

i think the OP is asking specifically about the carbs, but a good service of plugs oil and filters is a good idea at the same time. Its also important to note that Valve clearances should ideally be checked before you fit the carbs and balance them.

Back to the subject of the carbs, have you removed and cleaned the diaphragms, needles and slides? It would be worth removing these (one carb at a time) being careful not to tear the diaphragm rubber and giving them a good cleaning in parafin or carb cleaner.

Im doing all of this on my NC35 carbs at the moment, quite enjoyed doing it, but Ive got an ultrasonic cleaner and I cant believe the cr@p thats come out of them!

Be carefull with some carb cleaner aerosols, i wouldnt recomend using it on the carb diaphragms or remove them from the carb bodies before using, in the past i have seen the diaphragms swell so mutch you cant get them back into the carb tops after being exposed to carb cleaner . i havnt used carb cleaner for quite a few years now so maybe the formula has changed .

Still the same... many of the cleanears say it should be used on a running engine (think reddex on crack)

your supposed to spray it over the carb while it's running to help dislodge debris, if it gets stuck on the diaphrams etc they can swell up or be eaten away!
