Hi I am new to this forum , i bought my girlfriend a super four ( resprayed and a full titanium system fitted )

only problem with it is the battery is good but after a few days it starts to play up and not start , it bump starts ok but use any electrics and she dies even brake lights . charge the battery up and its fine for another few days . i have been thinking it may be the generator any ideas would be gratefully appreciated .the battery is checked and ok but i am not sure how to check the generator output . i have got a multi meter

Measure the voltage at the battery terminals with the engine running. It should read 14.5 volts or thereabouts. If it's a lot less, it's almost certainly the regulator/rectifier but could be the generator.

If you have the translated Russian CB-1 / CB400 manual there's a troubleshooting guide for the regulator/rectifier (you measure resistances between pins and compare readings with those stated in the manual). If you don't have the manual, PM me with your e-mail and I'll send you a copy.

This thread should help you check the rest of the charging circuit, including the generator outputs:

It's always worth searching the forum before asking questions of a technical nature, as lots of topics have already been covered on here.

Best of luck!
