Evening all, I've had a spare set of fibreglass lowers kicking around for a while but never got around to repairing them.
I know you can get fibreglass repair kits on eBay etc. Are they simple to use or is there an alternative way of fixing them.
Only worked with plastics before.
Thanks in advance, Phil.

Fibreglass repair is fairly easy but messy.depends how neat you want to be.....
I would key the back of the panels with some heavy sandpaper like 80 grit, then follow the instructions on the pack. I tend to trim the fibreglass to shape for a neater job.
When all dried, rough up the front of the panels and apply some filler, sand back and jobs a good'n :)

Always drill relief holes at the end of any cracks stops them spreading, also drill holes along any parts you want to join together this allows he resin to seep through once hardened you sand and fill ready for paint. Long time consuming but no reason why most things can't be repaired

I use adhesive wax sheet on the outside to act as a mold, lay the fibreglass inside, when it sets just peel the wax off the outside and its about ready to paint, the wax is easy to use and forms to any panel shape...dont forget to clean the panel with acetone before layup.
