crankcase matting surface cleaning

whats the best way to clean the matting surface of the crankcase before joining ? would brake clean be sufficient ? I want to be sure its oil free before joining with hondabond ht

Depending on the brand, brake-cleaner can be pretty harsh solvent so it should be ok for removing all the crap.
I've always just used a stanley blade to make sure the surface is clean and then rubbed it all over with Meths and let it evaporate.

I actually got rid of the old sealer using a kitchen scour for doing the dishes with,worked a treat !
I'll give it a rub with the brake clean and let it dry , just want to be sure theres no traces of oil there to affect the sealing of the hondabond, thanks Neo
