I am about to change the fork oil seals on my K model 1989 NC30. My haynes manual says to use a new damper rod crush washer. Is this necessary or could I use the same one, I'm only asking as I was going to buy the seals from wemoto and they don't list the washer. If it is where is the best place to buy one. Also they reccomend changing the dust seals, is that necessary to? I'm sure I didn't used to change those everytime, or am I just a shoddy, tight mechanic? Cheers for any help.

It's a personal one really. I would recommend replacing the crush washer but I bet many people wouldn't bother. Brake calliper mounting bolts are pinch bolts so should be replaced every time they're removed buy very rarely are. I guess it saves the hassle of having to take them apart if they needed replacing later on. Same with the dust seals unless they're In real good shape, they wouldn't cost much.

I believe you can reuse them if you can heat it to red heat and leave to cool, however for £1.10 each I'd break the bank
