Bike has been eating plugs. They come out with a lot of petrol on them wet and black. what can cause a leak? I've been adviced to buy new valve seat sets (16011-mr8-003), what else in the carbs can it be?

Before you start ripping the head open and replacing te valve seats, first I'd check to make sure the carbie float valve isn't sticking. If this isn't closing it'll allow the float bowl to keep filling up, which will then empty out into the cylinder if the valves are open (I'm pretty sure that's how it works, please correct me if I'm wrong?)

So basically, I'd start with giving the float bowls a tap with a screw driver to see if it unseats the stuck float valve, or give the carbies a thorough clean (while you're in there, measure the float height, there's a how-to somewhere on this forum). Good luck.

I meant the carb float valve seat sets 16011-mr8-003, The carbs have been cleaned twice in the recent weeks so I don't think that is the problem. could be the gasket of the float valve or I'm not sure.
I guess a carb rebuild is in order but a rebuild kit is around 200 gbp if I can find one. Buying a used carbs could work but you never know what you get.

Yeah it's usually the float valve or the seat. I reckon the needle valve is a more likely suspect than the valve seat.

It would be cheaper getting hold of a set of used carbs, even if only to use the parts!
