Since its a smashing day out i said ill take the panels off and give bike a nice clean. The casing has seen better days but im just wondering is there anything in particular to use to bring it back to standard? Or would i use autosol or would that cause a mirror sheen that was not standard? I dunno what it looked like from factory!

Any help appreciated!

Regards,
Brian.

could try t-cut, i use that on alloy ect comes out well, just for ligh general use. i presume factory finished casings are plated or painted, i guess this would be good start. use autosol only on bare metal for a chrome finish. use 1200 grip wet n dry paper in circles to get a buf / matte finish, but re-laqure, wax, ect afterward,,,

Aluminium wheel cleaner is pretty much the best stuff. It is pretty caustic so only leave it on for a few minutes. I have used this particular one http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... _langId_-1

I'd opt for wire brushes and green pads for a standard brushed look. Gunk or even WD40 should degrease them quite nicely, without causing any damage.

A coating of ACF50 will keep them relatively corrosion free as well as cover some imperfections once you're done.
