stubby end can

first off theres a leak at the bottom of my end can, its like a standard GF one and theres also a rattling from it, a mechanic i had look at it said there could be something inside or the mesh is ballixed. so i take it this will have an effect on the power of the bike keeping in mind its restriced am i losing some HP. with that in mind im thinkin about changing the end can to a stubby, whats the crack with them do they need to be a specific type for the cbr400 or will anyone do and will they make a noticable difference in power, im not looking to break the bank either no more than 200 pound any recommendations?
