Rev limiter

Apropos of nothing really: I hit the rev limiter today on the Version R, blimey! It felt like a massive loss of power, not too subtle eh?! I'd reached 60mph in 2nd gear on a motorway slip road and suddenly found myself almost going backwards!

Done the same myself, I don't know for sure but I think it is linked to the 180kph speed limiter which drops out two of the cylinders. I assume that if you have speed limiter disabled that it would also be disabled on the rev counter too :?:

Superfourben - I've a kph-mph converter gear between the speedo and the cable, so the speed limiter isn't disabled as far as I know.

Meno - I'll check the sprockets when it stops monsooning down! I had them replaced earlier this year, and my mechanic asked for the model number of the bike (F3S) so I assume he must have ordered the standard set, but I'll double check.

If the speed limiter is disabled then there will probably be a resistor or small box across the black/brown and orange/blue wires either behind the casing of the clock assembly or somwhere on that loom???? I was going to do it to the bike before the trackday last year but didn't get round to it..... turned out I didn't top the 180kph mark anyway :)

When I bought the bike, the brake light didn't work (bear with me). I tracked the fault to a faulty rear brake switch, which I replaced. Still the light didn't work, and eventually I traced another fault to a mysterious red box plugged into the loom between the clocks and the rest of the bike. With the box removed, the light worked fine, so I binned it. Turns out the red box was a de-restrictor module, but as I already had the connverter gear fitted I guess I didn't need it anyway!
