Hey Fella's
I think i have done my headset bearings, im getting some horrible clunking noises under the front brakes and can feel it move over a bump and can feel a bit of play in the headset while turning at low speeds. I have it booked in to get fixed in a week.
Would it still be safe to limp it by until then?
Thanks
Mike

Well you could try tightning teh headstock nut to eliminate some of the play, but if it's bad i would get the bus/train. Not nice trying to turn and finding your steering is stuck

Hey Guys,
How hard is it to replace the headset bearings myself?
I have the Haynes manual handy.
Thanks
Mike

It is easy enough - same as doing them on a pushbike..but you need to get he bike stable and either jack it under the pipes or dangle it from the ceiling.

It is also very useful to use the old bearing as protection when driving the new bearing onto the steering stem
