I was wondering to remove the flywheel on my Nc30 race bike, does anyone know how hard they to get off and also what kind of bhp gain would there be

Not hard to get off with a rotor puller. Just need a M20x1.5 bolt and some means of holding it still. No idea on BHP change.

Easy to get off, no worries.

Not sure it gives much BHP wise - but you do get more responsive pickup and faster revving.. I did it on my race bike and it was cool.

I have the GSXR mod on my road bike and that is also very cool..

I am no expert on these thing but as I understand it, you'll see no gain in bhp at all. Nothing about the engine has changed that will give it more power, or have less friction. Less rotating mass does not equal more hp.

But, you'll feel a change in the way the engine behaves, though it will not be related to bhp - it'll spin up quicker, but it'll also spin down quicker with less rotating mass and that'll affect engine braking and what you do off throttle.

disclaimer: like I said, I am no expert, but I have some Dukes with reduced rotating mass goodies and that it what it does.

As Stray Alien says. Also less torque at low revs which translates to harder to get off the line, which combined with high NC30 first gear might be interesting. IMO a smaller rotor would be better than none just to help when taking off.

just like a GSXR one - allowing you to still run lights, electrics and a charging system for the battery :)

I'm thinking of putting my flywheel back on for racing. Or just getting it machined down. Can anyone recommend how much weight to take off?
I was thinking of losing half its weight straight away.
