Hey guys, I got an rvf here and I just took the forks out and replaced the oil etc, but the front brake calipers seem to always be on just a little bit, they won't let go fully. Te front wheel won't free spin unless I take the calipers off, is this normal, or am I up for having to recondition my calipers? I tried it once on an fzr and it made no difference for a major fuck around, so is this normal or should the front wheel just spin and year brakes are on just a bit?

you should be able to spin the wheel with your little finger with the front off the ground with a stand etc. If it's hard to turn then chances are it's the calipers and they need taking off. You may get away with taking one off and pumping the lever to pull the pistons out part way and giving a clean with soapy water. Just watch they don't come out too far or you'll lose fluid and then they'll need bleeding. If they're bad they'll need a strip and seals and possibly new pistons at £18 I think I read the other day, and you have 8 of them!

Or fit gold calipers off a 929 and a 5/8" master cylinder, if they fit on the fork bosses? I know the mounting centres are the same but also know on the VTR you have to grind a bit off.

It's only the sp1 not the sp2 correct?
929 what model/make/year? And why 5/8 what's wrong with original mc?
Is it worth it but, two fingers on the the track is enough to have me sitting on the tank! I guess I just want modern shit that isn't all gunked and fucked.

All of those calipers you mentioned will fit, all need adapter plates none will bolt straight on.

Thought sp1 was a direct bolt on, so who makes these plates anyway?

Rvf calipers are the same positioning as the cbr600rr and sp1 calipers

Also my bike has cheap aftermarked rear sets that are adjustable but still pretty good, anyone know where I might be able to get cheap rearsets? I bought some a while ago for the FZR for 80 bucks and they were brilliant, now they all seem like they are 250 bucks! Anyone know? Cheers.
