Swingarm Conversion on a CBR 600 F 1989

Hey guys,

Finished with the NC30 build now and have landed myself a Honda CBR 600 F1 (i think) Taxed and MOT's untill the end of the year for under £200 quid

However!! It has a electrical fault and when it reaches high temp will cut out. The plug that connects to the fuel pump had no power running through it at all, Managed to connect this up to a feed from the rear light and the pump now works. Could this be the problem? Or is there something else I need to check?

Right the reason I am posting this is I have a few ideas in mind for this bike, seeing as I got it cheap i can spend a few quid on it. I have a spare NC30 swingarm and wheel (just need a Tyre) I would like to do a swingarm conversion update the seat unit and possibly replace the front fairing and light unit. Why some people may ask.... Because I want to and its different. Some people say its not worth doing just for the luck but I think otherwise ;)

So yeah... Is this possible, i now it may be a big job but hey I got a bit of time on my hands.
Any info i would greatly appreciate guy

Stu

The fuel pump is meant to run through a relay, I wouldn't run it straight off the brake light power. Go through with a multimeter, you probably have a faulty relay.

I would think more about the nc23/9 swingarm, as the 600f1 has the same crankcases, so should be a piece of piss to fit that in?

Electrical fault is more likely to be a failing coil, HT lead or plug I would think. Got any 400 ones knocking around?

Thanks for the reply there. I havent got any 400 ones no, I was going to remove the pump all togeather and try gravity feed it, The carbs sit pretty high on the CBR though so might not be possibe?

I will get the multimeter out on the weekend and see what i find, On the other hand i now a bloke that is breaking one thats running, may get a full new loom and coils.

Thanks again for the help :peace:
