As the title says i was wondering how easy it is to do, i currently have a NC30 and im looking to replace the engine with a low mileage one and a fair deal has come up but its a 35 lump. So does anybody have a link to any previous threads on the subject? i have searched it and trawled through a fair few pages but i have had no luck.

it will go in - but you'll also need the relevant pickups and whatnot - cdi etc.. Unless you swap them out of the nc30 engine.

Hmmm im thinking its going to be too much hassle to bother with, maybe i should wait until a low mileage 30 lump comes up for sale.

No I would go for the 35 engine, better gearing ( I think) and slightly better cam profiles.

So what about the chain allingment? I know from putting a VFR motor in a RVF frame the front sprocket needs spacing out 5mm, so what about RVF motor in a VFR frame? do you space the rear sprocket out 5mm instead??

I know what you mean about the better gearing which would be an advantage, but i also dont like the unpainted finish on the RVF engine so its swings and roundabouts really, on the plus side aly is selling a good VFR engine so im going to take that i think.

Didn't have any chain alignment issues when I did mine, but I did nick the sprocket from my '30 engine. I have the correct tap to sort out the middle mounting bolt if you want to borrow it.

As said you'll want to swap the ignition pick ups (the '30 needs 2, '35 only has one) which will require drilling and tapping of the case to fit it. You need actual pick ups and the rotor from the NC30.

If you want some help I'll be taking a trip to Kidlington to see some family on the 17th of April, and will be that sort of way in mid July aswell, just let me know

So the RVF motor goes in a VFR frame with no allingment issues?

Sam, you got a pic of the mounting hole that needs tapping on the RVF engine? may aswell do it while its on the bench.

I really apreciate the offer mate, but im going to stick with an NC30 engine would like to keep the bike as original as possible. Im very close to Kidlington too, if your down on the bike we should go for a blast!
