Hey all V4 enthusiast.
I have not been starting my nc35 for a week due to a short holiday trip, and when I did finally start the engine earlier today, i discover some knocking sounds coming from the rider's left* foot rest.
It is a distinct sound whereby you can actually hear the piston thumping one by one.
So I took my nc for a spin, hoping that the sound would actually go away after the engine warms up, unfortunately it didnt. :\
I recalled that I have already get the spark plugs and an oil change somewhere in early March.
Could it be that the oil running in the engine is not compatible with the nc35?
or inadequate amount of oil in it?
or even worst, time to part the engine?

ian.

oh yeah, heres a clip after the short spin around the neighborhood.

Your vid went down to the left side :|

Are you sure the exhaust isn't blowing?

The sound in the video suggests that the exhaust is blowing where the headers meet the engine. It may or may not be the case, the sound quality isn't perfect but that's what it sounds like to me.

Hi just read this thread, this week i have noticed a simillar sound coming from nc30, its kind of a tinging noise from the front end. i was quite concerned about this, although the bike seemed to handle and perform as it should.. i have checked over all other obvious/visable parts around the bike and have come to the conclusion that the front header pipes are blowing. so fairings coming off this weekend and hopefully its just a case of nipping some bolts up and problem solved? HOPEFULLY .. lol
Ive already spent to much time and money on my bike, im going to sulk if it turns out to be somthing inside the engine? ile let u know, mean while Starr u can let me know if your headers were blowing and causing the noise you are concerned about.. thanks,, Moore

Nice1,, I will be working on my bike tonight, pritty sure its just blowing from the header pipes. hopefully yours will turn out to be the same, simple fix. the noise dose sound the same as yours in the vid clip?

Take it easy dude.

I have decided to open up the fairings myself and finally got the time to take a look at the fault.

Thank god that its just a loosen gasket. Tighten it already and its all fine. No more funny noises. :)

But i wonder. What could be Possibly be the cause? Hmmmm..

Ps; thanks for the advice thunderace. :)

Expansion and contraction during heat cycles and/or vibration? I think those are the main culprits for nuts undoing themselves.
