Heyy guys i'm new with motorbikes and well my rvf was working fine until i noticed none of my rear brake lights/blinkers and lights on the dash weren't working... After a look around i found a cable from my rear brake with a spring on it. (I'm sure its for the rear brake light)... It was slightly melted to the exhaust, i can see the wires in it but since i found that ive had the light problems, and my bike decides to rev out at 5000rpm....

help please :)

Sounds like the wire shorting on your exhaust has blown a fuse. The fusebox is underneath the pillion seat.

Would you be able to tell me which fuse? :)

Nope.

Probably the fuse for the lights, just check them all.

Ok, would the rev problem be related to the fuse?

Yes your bike has gone into limp home mode, repair the wiring and reroute it so it doesnt happen again then replace the fuse. There isnt that many fuses so just check them all its easy to see if one has blown.

It will be the fuse for the dash and the lights - causing the limp home and also the shit lights!

Easy fix, the fusebox has a little ID for each on on the underside of the lid.

Have a look at the fuses, it will be obvious which one has died - the middle of it will be melted. change it out and you are sorted, just make sure the wiring is fixed, or it will go again.

Would electrical tape me able to fix this or would i need a new cable too?
doesnt look badly damaged just the wire is a bit exposed and the rubber is melted

if you dont re-route the cable away from the heat, it will happen again.
you could probably buy some of that rubber type wrap that shrinks itself round the cable when you warm it up (available from maplins)
but fixing it properly is obviously the best way....
