Starter problem

Hi Guys, here we go again! lol finally got the bike back together after finally getting the paint work sorted. Cleaned the tank out and added fresh fuel. Hit the button and up she fired  had no problems with it running or starting for a couple of days. Then the missus comes to start it and you guessed it...Nothing! the battery is fully charged the starter relay is clicking but no starter motor action! i put a meter across the two terminals (the pos from the battery and lead to the starter) and even with the ignition turned off i get a reading of 9v, surely there shouldnt be any voltage when the ignitions turned off? after reading a few posts on here it seemed it may have been the starter relay. So i've rplaced it with a new one which sounds much stronger when you hit the starter button, but still no joy and still 9v across the terminals when switched off. Any one got any ideas what could be up or what to check as i need to get the thing on the road.
cheers

Battery fubar. Have you got a spare good battery (car battery and jump leads will do) you can connect in parallel? If that works, you need a new battery :peace:

Hi Thunderace, yeah battery's all good. I've just found the problem, had the starter off and tried turning the spindle and it felt a tad rough. Took the back off and what a mess! one of the com contacts had lifted and destroyed 2 of the bushes one of the bush springs and all the bush housings  so gotta find a replacement now. Dont suppose you know wether a 600 bandit one will fit as they look the same? and seem a bit easier to get hold of.
