Looking to replace my air filter on my nc24 would get a nc30 but i dont like shims anyway seeing as the filter is basicly £40 now would it be possiable or has it been done where you put some universal cone filters where or on the carb trumpets and do away with the air box all together.

Do you mean valve shims? I don't see what this has got to do with an airfilter? [on a side-note of owning both bikes, the vastly superior brakes, suspension and choice of tyres that the NC30 offers greatly outweighs lock-nut adjustable valves, which need more frequent adjustments than shims]
Stock airfilter is the best way, anything else is likely to mess up jetting and require plenty of time and effort to fix it, it's been tried before, cutting up a stock-filter and using various foams. The bikes are picky about air-flow and the carbs don't respond well to them being changed.

You can get NC24 air filters for around £25 delivered. Don't know where you got the £40 price tag from

Ebay? Item number: 260990678779
As neo says, i really wouldnt mess around with standard unless you really like messing about with jets! Having said that tho, I've got a foam filter in me nc30, and after going up a couple a jet sizes it fuels great, but i like a challenge!
If you do want to play tho, try and make mods reversable so if it doesnt like it you can put it back to stock easily.
Cheers
Ian

Bugger! When I had my 24, those exact filters were about £25 posted
Absolute bargain price now. And the Fuji ones are as close to OE as you'll ever get.
