vtr-nc30 anyone?!

Hi guys, I keep having very dark thoughts about a monster wolf in sheep's clothing nc30. Now as not to upset any purists I would keep my current nc standard, but I just can't stop looking at an nc frame and thinking a nice vtr 1000 twin could be coaxed in there. Has anyone attempted this yet or got any thoughts/advice/info???

Very serious,I'm fortunate enough to have access to equipment and skills to tackle it including specialist welding, measuring cnc machines and pro body repair/refinish set up if not the funds and time immediately hence planting the seed for info now, so what you recommend is it viable/been tried before??

Quite a tall motor, you would have difficulties with the airbox/tank arrangement.

I'd like to see you do it though.

Some have tried sv motors and i think at least got them mounted in half decent positions but ive never seen or heard of one being completed.
Good luck.

Thats the sort of info I need, yeah has crossed my mind first thought was a one off tank, unsure about the airbox problem too. Worried about cooling also, thinking large bore racing rads should be ok, again location maybe an issue, rear swingarm mounts on vtr engine not sure if I could find a way of using this or loosing the engine bulk by modifying the casing??
The more I think about it the more ridiculous it seems, only makes me want to do it more, must be the 400 rider mentality I guess??
Keep them coming please good ideas and problems the more the better, would rather find out if it's possible before committing serious time and cash. If nothing else the rest of the world gets to laugh at the Yorkshire numptie!!!!

I tried an SV engine- it was tight- the cross member of the frame( just behind the headstock) needs to be cut out. I saw it done on another forum - bayareasriders forum. Then there were concerns with whether a Cush drive is needed for the rear wheel, and several other issues such as front to rear sprocket alignment, the airbox location, which with the SV has sensors so how would they be located/fitted to give airtight seals etc etc.

It's a great idea in principle - however lots and lots of work required.

Hope this helps?!!

How about something like a 660 Yamaha single? That should fit without much problem.

Mo- I've given up on the idea now!

I think it would take up too much time and money!

Plus drunkn munky had the frame I was contemplating using off me ;-)
